About Us!
We believe that the door to salvation is always open and so are the doors to our church. Our mission is to be fully devoted to Jesus by opening our arms to those in search of the truth. We show God’s love and concern for our fellow man at every opportunity. Through works of charity and opening our doors to listen and love, we feel that we are walking in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
Our Church History
In the year 1902, on the first Sunday of November, a humble mission was started in the City of Pleasantville by the late Deacon William Mack. With the assistance of the late Rachel Jones, several families identified themselves with the mission and it's work. Many spiritual meetings were held in Mrs. Lottie's basement at 208 Tremont Avenue and during the summer months the meetings were in tents. Following many successful financial efforts, property was purchased on Columbia Avenue and the first edifice was erected in 1903. Reverend Richard Hill from Second Baptist Church in Atlantic City was called as the first Pastor. In 1925, the congregation moved into it's present edifice at Fernwood and Columbia Avenues.
Our Purpose
God desires for us to live a holy and righteous life so that we are truly the light of the world. Everyday God is releasing God’s Word into our lives, so that we can be changed into God’s likeness. God is our model, to seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. We are here in the house of God to learn do His work and follow His commandments. God is the master builder, but we are God’s hands and God’s feet to carry out God’s mission.
“As the charge is given in Luke 14:22-23 go out into the highways and unbeaten paths to compel them to come into God’s House that His House may be filled. For everything that we need IS IN THE HOUSE.”
At the same time I urge you to double your effort to continue to build the House of the Lord under the of the Holy Spirit. it all for us with His blood. Jesus love is not compromised. We invite you to come to the House of the Lord where you will find your soul is with the Word of God as it is embraced, taught, and preached.
Our Mission
The same instructions Jesus gave to His disciples before He returned to heaven are for His believers today. If you and I are believers come and fulfill the need to live and share with others the Good News about Jesus. We acknowledge the need to be obedient to what God’s word teaches us. Therefore, we can share God’s Word with others as we live. God has left the Holy Spirit to live in us giving us the power to do God’s Work until He returns.
“We, as a body of believers, this is the foundation for our mission statement. are followers of Jesus Christ called to fulfill the Great Commission according to Matthew 28:19-20.
Our Mission is to build God’s Kingdom through prayerful study of the Word of God and by worshipping Christ in spirit and in truth. We are committed to creating an environment that will promote individual growth and meet the needs of the community.”
So we invite you to come learn God’s Word to be obedient to Jesus’ instructions, ask to forgive, deliver and set free the Good News with others. Keep in mind “God’s Work must be done by God’s trained and equipped people, in will, in God’s way for God’s glory.”
